A frame is the interpretation that is running: what this interaction is, who the prize is, what counts as a joke. Frame control is keeping yours when someone yanks. Pickup borrowed the word from ordinary social psychology and then used it as a verb. [1][2] Examples of frames:
- "We are two interesting people who just met" vs "I am auditioning."
- "You are hitting on me" vs "I noticed you and came over."
- "We're just hanging out" vs "This is a date."
Reframe is the discrete move. Frame is the standing weather. Wingman's glossary page Frame control is the how-to; this page is the concept.
