Teasing is playful friction — the house school's replacement for most of what 2000s pickup called negging. The Newbie assignment day 13 installs it as repartee: a little challenge after the direct open, then stop being the joker. Chase's required reading for that day is "Teasing a Girl the Right Way." House rules, from the assignment:

• Tease armor (the shopping bags, the scarf in August), never the wound (weight, job, age).
• A line or two, then rapport. Light / serious / light. Endless jokes make you the court fool.
• She laughs and fires back: you landed it. Smile drops: you went too far, regardless of intent.

A Mystery neg is a status nick aimed at women bored of compliments. The house school allows that amplitude with a smile. It does not make it the default open.
