A statement of intent (SOI) is saying, out loud, that this is romantic or sexual — not a random chat. ASF used the acronym. Chase Amante's Newbie assignment installs the same move in civilian English: "I thought you were cute and wanted to come meet you." Direct game is SOI as a school.
