Validation in this jargon is using her reaction as the scoreboard: you need the laugh, the number, the reply. It is the inner face of neediness. Qualifying yourself (résumé, money talk) is the outer face.[1][2]
In practice
In practice: you can want her and still not need this one. That is outcome independence. The Newbie assignment collects blowouts so the scoreboard stops being a single face.
