Plowing is continuing the interaction after a stall: a quiet patch, a friend interruption, a lukewarm answer. The term is used for it for not ejecting at the first dip — change topic, move venues, restart the tease — while still hearing a real no.[1]
Method
When the set dips (quiet, a friend, a lukewarm answer) and she has not shut the door:
- Do not apologize for existing. Do not ask "are you sure you want to talk?"
- Change one variable: new topic, new tease, half-step of isolation, or a bounce with a reason.
- Assume the next beat until you get a clear no, a freeze, or "I have to go" that is not a false time constraint.
That is calibration plus spine. Neediness is the same motion on a closed door — you stay because you have nowhere else. Persistence is the inner-game name. Approach walls (friends, noise, a boyfriend frame she is not dropping) are furniture to walk around or leave, not puzzles to argue.
Failure mode
Ejecting at the first dip. Or the opposite: ignoring a real no. Plowing is for mixed signals and interruptions. It is not a debate club on consent.
