Counter-signaling is not flashing the obvious status cue because the rest of you already says it — messy clothes on a man who clearly has options, not trying. In practice: this only works if you are something. Fake counter-signal on empty fundamentals is slob. See authenticity.[1][2][3]
Method
- Earn the signal first (body, social, calm).
- Then you can underplay.
- Do not underplay as a personality while you still have no approaches.
Failure mode
