An opener is the first thing you say or do to start a set. Schools fight about this more than it deserves.
- Indirect — situational, opinion, fake question ("Do you know if this line is for the upstairs bar?"). Mystery-era default in loud clubs.
- Direct — state the intent ("I thought you were cute and came to meet you"). Chase Amante's assignment installs this by day 7–12.
- Situational — comment on the shared world, then pivot. Common in daygame.
The open's job is to start a conversation without leaking need. It is not the seduction. Beginners over-invest in lines; the assignment's day 4 is just "hi."
