A direct opener states interest up front: "I thought you were cute, I wanted to say hi." It is the spoken form of direct game. A common later default once a student can say hello; Mystery treated it as optional and sometimes high-risk in clubs. Failure mode: spam approaching / neo-direct — the same sentence fired at everyone with no calibration.
