This sits next to Girls Chase talk of '''state''' and [[sprezzatura]], not against it. Chase's fundamentals assume the body and voice are actually available. A fake-cheerful clamp is the opposite of [[calibration]]. Not house doctrine; a diagnostic.

Steadiness check
Field Inner game

Origin Wingman blog (2024)

The steadiness check is a still-body drill: sit or stand, face forward, and notice whether your state stays level or spikes when you look at people — especially women you might approach. The useful claim: approach goes badly when the outside look (smile, open body) is a veneer over a different inside, and women read the mismatch. [1] This sits next to Girls Chase talk of state and sprezzatura, not against it. Chase's fundamentals assume the body and voice are actually available. A fake-cheerful clamp is the opposite of calibration. Not house doctrine; a diagnostic.

The drill

  1. At home, still, breathing: does the inner state stay steady, rise, or stall?
  2. In a populated place (mall, park), same still body, eyes on passers-by including attractive women: does tension force you to move?
  3. If it stays steady, first approaches tend to express. If it climbs, the essay's advice is to start on small talk and socializing until the veneer and the inside rejoin — not to force a heroic first set.

Sad or low is allowed if it is unhidden. The failure mode is the smile that cannot reach the eyes.
