A delusionship is a relationship that exists in one person's imagination and nowhere else. One party has built a full romantic narrative, complete with feelings, a future, and probably some internal arguments about what you meant by that one text, around someone who has not signed up for any of it. The other person, maybe you, is just living their life.

The term went viral on TikTok around 2022 and it stuck because it named something everyone recognized immediately. It's not quite a crush, because a crush is passive. A delusionship is active. The person running it has constructed a whole architecture of meaning around your normal behavior. You replied to her message in under an hour once. That's now evidence.

And then the knowing starts to feel like a relationship.
